PREVENTING UNDERAGE ALCOHOL USE FREE Two Part Series
PART 1 - 1pm to 2:30pm, April 6, 2022
Underage alcohol use remains an ongoing challenge facing prevention professionals. Rates of use have generally been in decline for many years; however, alcohol remains the most used substance among youth. This two-part webinar series will provide an overview of the current state of underage drinking and related prevention efforts, with an additional focus on two particular age groups of concern: younger youth (ages 13 and under) and college-aged underage drinkers (ages 18 to 20).
Learning Objectives:
-
Examine how prevention science can be described and provide a shared definition
-
Understand the research and theories behind prevention science
-
Review how prevention science is applied to substance use prevention and its impact
-
Discuss some of the challenges to incorporating prevention science and provide a research agenda for expanding future efforts

Institutional Racism & Historical Trauma Workshop
Register now for the discussion with Cockhren on Friday, June 24, at 12:00pm
Please join us for an interactive workshop highlights the timeline of institutional racism in the United States and the resulting historical trauma. The purpose of the session is to outline the mechanisms of historical trauma.
This session will also provide a social-ecological framework of institutional racism and highlights strategies to address institutional racism and systemic inequity. Lastly, this session will outline trauma-informed and healing centered practices to promote the healing of historical trauma within a social-ecological framework.
Ingrid Cockhren knows first-hand how impactful trauma and toxic stress can be for children and families and has dedicated her professional life to investigating and educating the public about the link between early trauma, early adversity, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), positive childhood experiences and the consequences that occur across the lifespan. Specializing in creating equitable and inclusive environments within organizations, collective impacts and grassroot movements, Cockhren uses her knowledge of stress, trauma, historical trauma, human development, and psychology to translate research concerning diversity/equity/inclusion (DEI) and trauma-informed practices into community, workplace, and organizational solutions.
